Tianyu Zhang Jin

PhD Candidate

Tianyu, TY for friends, is an international relations and international law graduand, with specialization in human security and sustainable development. Her interests span from the performance of international institutions, implementation of international environmental agreements, and the intersection of human rights and the environment, to intercultural communication, and consumer behaviour. She worked with Spanish public diplomacy institution, Casa Asia, to bring closer the Asian culture to the local public; she was in charge of following-up on European foreign policy and green agenda while at the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the European Union, and she had the opportunity to be part of the big team that led the preparations towards the celebration of the 5th United Nations Environment Assembly when she interned at the United Nations Environment Programme. She is proficient in Spanish, Catalan, Mandarin, and English, and has elementary knowledge of French and Korean. As a Ph.D. student, her current work examines intervention strategies to reduce consumer-end food waste. Her goal in this new stage of her professional and academic career is to broaden her knowledge base while also trying to contribute to the team with her interdisciplinarity. Tianyu seeks a life in which she can be helpful to society.
