🗓️ July 02 – Participating in an agricultural focus group
Zein Kallas took part in a focus group of agricultural practices to introduce the Circular Agronomics project and explain his experience in management practices of fertilization agriculture.
The session was part of the ‘Study on the Economics of Adoption of Agro-Environmental Practices in the EU’ of the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission, which aims to build a database with agro-economic information from 15 agro-environmental practices studied in: Austria, Belgium-Flanders, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain.
🗓️ July 09 – II Agropolis Open Days
Adrià Menéndez i Molist participated in the 2nd edition of AgroTech’s Agricultural Innovation to share the work done in the LAB4SUPPLY project and the study done in the framework of the impact of direct sales and short channel certifications in the preferences of consumers and consumers.
The session was organized by the Escola d’Enginyeria Agroalimentària i de Biosistemes de la UPC and AgroTech.
🗓️ July 10 – First SPRINT project meeting
Chema Gil, Djamel Rahmani and Tianyu Zhang form the CREDA team that participates in the new SPRINT project, which aims to mitigate food waste in hotel restaurants, homes and supermarkets.
Partners attended the first meeting of the project at the Club Asturiano de la Innovación (INNOVASTURIAS) facilities to share the methodology that will be followed in each work package and the objectives that are expected to be achieved.
🗓️ July 11 – Presentation of stone fruit and grape cost studies
Chema Gil participated in the presentation of studies of the production costs of stone fruit and grapes for the 2024 campaign in collaboration with the Departament d’Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural.
The stone fruit study is focused on peaches and nectarines and highlights a 17% increase in production costs per hectare and an 11% increase in costs per kg.
Regarding the study of grapes and the production of cava-based wine, which CREDA has worked with the Federació de Cooperatives Agràries de Catalunya i l’AECAVA – Associació d’Elaboradors de Cava, there is an increase of 25% of the production cost per hectare, establishing costs of 0,45€/kg for the Macabeo variety, 0,46€/kg for the Xarello and 0,50€/kg for the Parellada.
🗓️ July 22 – Progress in the OVIHUEC.DAT project
Manel Cuartielles interviewed agents of the Aranese-Pyrenean agri-food sector as part of the project. The aim is to improve forest management and recover old pastures lost in mountain areas by including a herd of sheep and goats in the municipality of Vilamòs.
Both production personnel, technicians from the administration and private companies, local distributors and consumers, as well as social agents, participated in the interviews to define the value chain and develop proposals that include the different local perspectives.
🗓️ 24 de juliol – Meeting in Uruguay
Bouali Guesmi and Chema Gil met with the team from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Universidad de la República to share the first results of the INIA project.
During this time, the multidimensional impact of the R&D effort on the agricultural production system in Uruguay has been analysed. This is of strategic importance in terms of the transfer of new technologies and the diffusion of the adoption of existing knowledge among the beneficiaries of the sector.
