CREDA Activities: December Update

🗓️ December 12 (1) – Tasting of Torró d’Agramunt at the EEABB facilities

Laura López-Mas, research technician at CREDA, led the sensory evaluation of this product as part of the contract of the IGP of the Torró d’Agramunt that carries out CREDA for the Council Regulator of the Torró d’Agramunt.

During Tuesday’s day, 9 trained tasters attended the last session of the experiment, in which they had to certify the sensory quality of 4 different nougat samples.

The PGI of Torró d’Agramunt brings together 6 productions: l’Agramuntina, Torrons Àngel i Lluch, Torrons Vicens, Torrons Fèlix, Torrons Roig and Torrons Virginias.

🗓️ December 12 (2) – Involving in the use of inclusive and non-sexist language

Carmina Villar i Martí and Jordi Giner, professionals of the Language and Terminology Service of the UPC, led a workshop to explain in depth what are the good practices that we must use both in the field of research, administration and management.

The seminar was organized in relation to action 4 of CREDA’s Equality Plan, which aims to review the documentation and communication, both internal and external, of the entity. In addition, to facilitate understanding and awareness among the entire team at the centre the session addressed the use of a more correct language in English and Catalan.

Those who attended were able to participate in a round of exercises to practice the use of alternatives to the forms used in CREDA’s publications and networks.

🗓️ December 15 – HEALTHYW8: A day of co-creation among stakeholders

The partners of the European project came together to carry out the second workshop on intervention strategies to prevent and control obesity.

Amèlia Sarroca and Zein Kallas, who were in charge of representing CREDA as leaders of WP5, organized the session together with the Fundació Institut d’Investigació Sanitària Illes Balears (IDISBA).

The workshop divided stakeholders (citizens, education, research, and business) into groups to discuss and share ideas in relation to the management of the problem.

🗓️ December 18 and 19 – Tomato and fig value chain analysis

Zein Kallas and Omar Guadarrama, responsible for the European project LAB4SUPPLY, organized the second group discussion on two of the products worked on:

  • Tomatoes from the Baix Llobregat region: with the aim of finding alternatives for distribution that are more sustainable and optimised.
  • The ‘Coll de Dama’ figs from Alguaire: to propose changes in the field of marketing and sustainability.

🗓️ December 19 and 20 – CREDA holds an experimental auction together with Florette

Djamel Rahmani, Kenza Goumeida and Paula Sans led 15 groups in an experimental auction for the CO-FRESH project.

The attendees have had a budget of €5 that they have used to bid for two Florette salads with different packaging: 100% recyclable and 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable. Once the bids were completed, the organization compensated with salad samples to the 4 highest bids of each round.

With this experiment, the CREDA team aims to collect information on the preferences of end users.
