The Minister of Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación, Luis Planas, has highlighted the success of Spanish food products in international markets at the Spain Food Nation Summit in the United Kingdom. Proof of this are the more than 4.8 billion euros that Spanish agri-food exports to England amount to.
At the closing ceremony in London, Planas recalled that this type of fair “pursue the objective of positioning the territory as an international benchmark for quality, flavour and food guarantee“, since Spain is the fourth-largest food producer in the entire European Union, and the tenth in the world.
However, the minister has highlighted the importance of transactions that guarantee food security, because “it is a priority and a commitment to supply food with high standards of quality and sustainability“.
The Spain Food Nation Summit is an initiative of the Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación and the Ministerio de Economía, Comercio y Empresa, through ICEX España, which aims to promote the local food industry internationally.
