The European INVITEproject, in which the Center in Agri-food Economics and Development (CREDA) participates, seeks stakeholders from the development of new plant varieties to participate in a survey to determine the main factors that are taken into account during decision making.
The project, which is part of the Horizon 2020 program, aims to improve the valorization and promotion of plant varieties more adapted to sustainable management practices and more resistant to climate change.
For its research, INVITE is conducting tests and analyses with 10 different species: apple, fodder grass, sunflower, soybean, wheat, maize, potato, tomato, oilseed rape and lucerne.
The target profile of the questionnaire are:
- Actors involved in the development of new plant varieties.
- Act within the European Union.
With the participation of several industry professionals, the project aims to improve both the efficiency of variety testing and the information available to stakeholders regarding performance in a range of production conditions and in situations of biotic and abiotic stress (biotic stress refers to the stress that a living organism causes by damaging a plant, such as bacteria, fungi or parasites; and abiotic stress is caused by damage to a non-living organism, such as sunlight or wind).
Once the results of the project are obtained, they will be made available to all interested actors through the delivery of a Decision Support System for Variety Choice.
