The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food is paying a total of 1.524.706,28 € in agri-environmental aid for sustainable pastures for the 2024 campaign, with the aim of promoting the conservation of hay meadow ecosystems to improve biodiversity in Catalonia.
Thus, a total of 611 people from 14 regions have benefited from the aid, impacting more than 9.000 hectares of crops. This aid falls under the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan (CASP) 2023-2027, with co-financing from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
To be declared a sustainable pasture, ranchers must work to conserve habitats and achieve a landscape mosaic that increases biodiversity and rationalizes extensive and semi-extensive use.
According to data from the Department, the areas that have received the highest amounts of aid are: Cerdanya (485.910€), Pallars Sobirà (319.520€), and Alt Urgell (294.045€).
