The Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació promotes entrepreneurship in the rural world and curbs depopulation by approving a new call for aid aimed at the Rural Ticket.
This is an initiative created by the Govern with the aim of facilitating the creation or acquisition of new micro-enterprises in rural areas. With the approval of the call for aid (of 1.6 million euros), the transfer of businesses already in operation dedicated to a non-agricultural activity is also intended. The recently approved call is the second made within the scope of 2024. The first, which took place last April, had an investment of 1.9 million euros, which allowed 86 projects to be carried out. This, together with the budget of the new call, reaches a total of 2.5 million euros.
The subsidies are managed by the 11 Leader local action groups (LAGs) in Catalonia and can be applied for until February 14, 2025. Thus, the objective is to reach more than 500 municipalities and cover 70% of the Catalan territory.
With the intention of promoting a support service for entrepreneurs in rural areas, the Government has established the following bases:
- Applicants commit to maintaining the business activity for a minimum of five years (from the moment the money is received).
- The aid will cover the minimum expenses and the current assets required to start the company or carry out the transfer of the activity.
- The grants will be granted and paid before the activity begins or in parallel with the start.
- The financial amount received can reach 35.000 euros.
- The subsidy is incompatible with any other intended for the creation of businesses, but it is compatible with Leader aid calls linked to investment projects.
For this second call, the Department has established a budget allocation in relation to the different GAL groups.
